Show Notes

Post by TaineGilliam » Wed Jun 11, 2008 3:23 pm

Would it be possible to add a "Show Notes" pane(or extend an existing pane to include). I found this very handy on the 500 series and even Horizon(Show Information) to help remind me of "What the $^%&* was I thinking when I laid this mess out." or to create a running "changes list"(think architectural install).

I would also like to have the option to make the note " pop up on startup." That way if the night crew made changes, or if you are forgetful you get a big old note to remind you to do something.

add notes field to Show Options|Venue (with check box to show as dialog box upon startup) :added: FS744

If you want notes to pop up right now, add an Autorun cue list with a macro script using:

Code: Select all

HC.MessageBox('message box string'[,'message box title'])

I have a Lua Code sequence that is used to note to an external txt file the start/interval/end time of a show. It appends the information to the text file, so you can look back in time and compare running times of previous shows.

I'll post it into the new Open Source Code section when they set that going.
...and for more entertainment industry trivia and useless facts, just ask:

Nice tool John. It reminds me of a feature that I have wanted for years and to my knowledge no lighting board has. A simple stop watch. How many times have you needed to time something and not had a stopwatch handy? Then a button to "make cue time" would be very slick addition.

RE: Stop watch: The LSD Icon desk had that sort of feature. I can't quite remember how it worked, but I have every intention of implimenting it so:

Press and hold EDIT to change a cue time or follow time etc., When you let go, it closes the blue box and enters the time for which you held the button down.

I would have a better chance to be hit by lightning than to use an Icon console. Let me revise my statement by adding main stream console leaning toward theatrical desk.

I like that option Robert. When should we see it ;)

What ever happened to this one? It seemed like such a good idea.

Took me a while to figure it out but here is the (very simple) script that worked for me

HC.MessageBox([[Show Notes
Focus Apron soft
Add area US of SR lectern
Build walk light - steps, apr into Lectern cues]])

Then, as Robert instructed, this macro gets placed in an autorun cue list.

When the showfile is opened the message box appears. Cool.

Still on the list. The reason it's not just as easy as getting to it is that it requires a change in the show file format which we're not always keen to do.
