Fixture library

Post by HPCTechnical » Tue Jul 30, 2013 11:14 am

Hi, have just got my 250ML today and am very excitedly going about setting it up. I'm trying to load in fixtures from the USB key, but the list that comes up is the filenames rather than the names of the fixtures, and the two don't always bear any obvious relation. Two questions: 1) is there a list of which file applies to which fixture, and 2) would it be possible for the display to list fixtures by name?

Many thanks

Always good to hear about excitement with a new console. I'm trying to get this published to the website today but we are doing some work on the servers and it may not happen today. See if this helps.

Much appreciated, that helps for those of us who are not primarily lighting techs!

Thanks :)

Good. I'll be updating this as often as I can.

This document is now on the web at www.strandlighting.com.

Is there a version of this list that actually gives the full fixture names? The descriptions of the "fixture names" on this pdf is barely better than the actual file names.

The latest version of the code shows a much better version of the fixture name when patching. Just go up to the latest beta code.

Not quite following you there, Bobby.... Sorry!

Latest version of code on the console? I'm running v1.1 currently.

I'm just looking for the fixture library spreadsheet that you guys have published to have more of a "Manufacturer" & "Fixture name" instead of the cryptic names that currently exist.

Thanks

My point is that we now allow for long file names in the patching so that the conversion document is no longer needed. If you look in the release notes of version 1.1, it describes that we now support a 60 character folder+file name length. What manufacturer's fixtures are you looking at?

I'm just going through all the manufacturers... Since I'm not familiar with the product line of all the manufacturers I need to search online for what I think each profile would be and cross reference to try to figure out what each profile actually is. This is not something that I need critically, I just thought it would be nice for all users to have a list that reflects the real names of the fixtures referencing the profile file names. For the most part I can figure it out.

That's a fair point. My goal was to get the console library to the point of displaying long file names so that the chart was unnecessary.
