Creating a fixture profile

Post by matj6876 » Sun Jul 07, 2013 2:03 am

Hi All

I am new here, so apologies up front for the rookie question.
In line with the forum guidelines I have spent a bit of time searching around but as my terminology is not so good right now I have not come up with an answer.

We have a Palette Vl 16 running OS 10.6 (I think. I am not in front of it right now).

I have been asked to incorporate 4 Stage Ape Wide 64 cans into the current set up.
They are 7 channel DMX LED feature lights but are not in the current Palette VL fixture library.
The DMX channels are defined in the user data sheet: http://www.stageape.com/pages/wide64.html

For the life of me I cannot create a fixture profile. I can't even edit the patch to get one of these things configured.
If I add a similar fixture... go to patch by output and try to change it.. I am unable to see where to change the attributes for each channel.

I know this has to be user error on my part but am unable to get anything working!
Would any of you be able to give me some advice to get started?
I am happy to be pointed to older posts/threads or back at the user manual if there is something I have missed.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

MattJ

Mat,

A few comments that hopefully will help you.

This fixture was added to the fixture library in October of 2010. If you need to, go to http://www.strandlighting.com, in the Support section and get the latest fixture library and that will have this fixture in it.

In Patch By Fixture just click on the fixture's type column and it will bring up a dialogue box to add this fixture. First select the Manufacturer, then the Fixture. Lastly, close the dialogue box. Then set the DMX address in the Addr 1 column.

We try and create these fixtures as simply as possible so that you can use the Palette consoles software to do things like strobe, color mixing (with the Color Picker, Gel Manufacturers List and Color Spaces) so some of the DMX channels may be unused.

If you have trouble getting it to work, I recommend that you call Tech Support. 800.4.STRAND.

I see there is a Fixture Library Creator for the new 250ML console. Will we ever get this for the Light Palette?

Acuity has always decided to maintain control of this because of all the technical data needed.

Thanks Bobby

Turns out it was 100% user error on my side. Bad understanding of the addressing on the cans by me tied with user error on the Palette and I didn't stand a chance.

Got everything working this weekend. Thanks again for the support.
