Windows Phone 7 - RFU

Post by Lotos » Mon Mar 05, 2012 7:14 pm

Hey Folks,

So it's a simple question... Been working on a Windows Phone 7 RFU...
Not an HTML Document ALA Mote/etc... But a fully functional RFU that converses via Local Network (WiFi) Telnet and LUA with the console.
(By day, Head Electrician/Assistant Technical Director... By night, monkeyer of all things code... With a WP7 AppHub Membership...)

Wondering if there's anyone out there interested in this thing other than me?
IE: Is it worth me cleaning up the code so that I can submit it via my AppHub membership for the public to use?

Comments? Questions?

Ask and ye shall receive.

Well, screencap of the dev environment, anyway...
(And before you ask, yes it runs just fine on a real device ... This was just the easiest way to snag a shot of the app itself, and the Palette window it is controlling... You'll also notice an old shadowed command in the Command Prompt on the Palette... No trickery, it's being controlled via the App)
Edit: I see the forum is chopping the image width... View in full: http://i41.tinypic.com/33ux2cl.jpg

It's still seriously rough around the edges... But does what I need it to... This thread was sort of an interst gauge to see if it's worth refining, and making it user friendly before braving the Submission process to get it published for other users (not just able to sideload onto my own handset)
It's native Windows Phone 7 code, so it has access to the full power of the phone (Hellooo Gyro  ), and communicates directly with the console via the shell.

Still toying with the layout... I tried to stay faithful to the console keypad, while keeping everything a decent size for my mitts...
The lack of Prev/Next buttons could annoy some users, however... And I think it's starting to bother me, the more I play with it.

Anywho...

Sadly, I think the extreme lack of response is a bit of an indicator that there's still very few WP7 users out there.

It's a shame, because after spending a decent chunk of time with iPhone, Android and WP7, my favourite is clear...
But Microsoft are fighting an uphill battle... In snow...With cement shoes...
Hopefully Nokia joining the fight will help the cause... I'm certain it will boom the market share in Europe...

Until then, I guess I'll just enjoy this myself :)
Maybe clean it up for release one day.

remember the the iOS iRFU is out and the openPalette app works on any phone that has the network chops to set a static IP address and access the files from a browser.
