[exe] Lamp Lifer

Post by RobertBell » Wed Feb 24, 2010 1:32 am

While visiting a TV station which just bought a number of our desks, they asked (off-topic) if I knew of anybody "pro-actively" changing out key lamps in fixtures that CAN NOT go out while live to air. Very quickly an application idea started to form. This is the results. It's called Lamp Lifer and tracked any number of crucial fixtures that must be changed before their life expectancy expires.
Features include:
  • Local or remote monitoring of any console IP
  • System automatically saves data (no SAVE button)
  • Shows date started for system(and how many hours ago) and up-time as % since start date. (this system should be monitoring the desk 24/7 even if the desk is not on)
  • User editable lamp data-base (external text file comma or tab delineated allowing comments)
  • Each lamp's hours can be re-set as you change the bulb
  • Notes fields for each lamp
  • Dynamic bar graph showing usage
  • Real-world hours and adjusted hours based on level from desk tallied
The lamps.txt file should live in the same directory as the exe. The values in there now are bogus. We need help building this database - please share.

That should be built into the console.

v1.0.0.1
  • added missmatched fixture schedule checking between lamplifer and show file
  • added network icon tooltips
  • boost refresh rate on exiting setup dialog box (faster re-connects after changing IP)
  • addded History.txt which logs all lamp lifes when changing lamps
  • will now upgrade between versions without losing old data

I have been looking into this software for a project I'm working on. Out of curiosity, does it directly measure the energy used to calculate the longevity of the light fixture or does it measure something else?

Thanks
