Mouse Scroll Wheel Function

Post by chaws » Mon Oct 01, 2018 5:41 pm

Hello,

In many parts of the NEO software, my mouse's scroll wheel does not act as a way to scroll. Instead it does thing like changes the intensity of a fixture or DMX channel that I am hovering over. This is probably one of the most frustrating things when dealing with the NEO software. Is there a way to make it so my scroll wheel actually scrolls the window like it does in every other application?

Thanks,
Chris

I'll send to the developer for a response.

The scroll wheel should respond appropriately to the window that has focus.
For example, I selected a fixture and confirmed that the wheel changed its level. I then opened the cue list window and the week correctly scrolled this window. If I put focus back on the live display the wheel goes back to controlling the fixture.
Having the mouse over a window is not sufficient for the scroll operation to work. You need to click on the window to give it focus.

Hello Martin,

I am specifically referring to having the scroll wheel scroll the window instead of changing the intensity of fixtures. It is really hard to scroll through windows without a scroll wheel, and the scroll bars all seem to have a bunch of bugs.

For example, look at the attached screenshot. The scrollbar is not visible, and the scroll wheel on my mouse adjusts intensity. There is no easy way to scroll through the groups. I end up using the arrow keys on my keyboard to navigate, which is really inefficient. The scroll wheel on the mouse should not adjust intensity, it should scroll through the window, and the level wheel on the console should control intensity.

Thank you. I understand the problem a bit more now.
Firstly in the latest version there should be a touch friendly thumb control to help with scrolling these windows. This will however only appear if there is more than 2 pages to scroll. See the image below - on the right you will see a thumb control to aid with this process.
You should also be able to scroll any window by just touching anywhere on the grid and moving your finger up/down (think how you would scroll on a mobile device).

You do make a valid point that on a console it is unnecessary for the scroll wheel to change levels and it would be better if it remained only for scrolling. I will investigate and discuss with the team whats involved in separating this functionality so that if console hardware is connected the scroll wheel on the mouse does not mimic the wheel on the desk.

A change has been made to accommodate this and is in the latest beta.

Thanks for the suggestion!
