RFU compatible phones

Post by souportugues » Fri Aug 12, 2011 3:48 pm

Longtime lurker, first post.
I'm considering upgrading phones so I can also use it as an RFU for the console, so...
Here's a little poll for you good folks.

Please list your:
1. Phone manufacturer, model, release version
2. RFU app (m(ini) RFU 2.1, mote OSC Beta, etc)
3. How well the software has worked on your phone from 1(low)-10(high), not necessarily for your needs/space/etc

I'm not using this as a have all end all list for comparison of whose app was designed better, I just wanna get a bigger sense of what my options are.
Thanks in advance.

***As a quick addition, I'm also considering other devices, like an Ipod touch or a Kin TwoM, that can pick up a wifi signal but aren't necessarily a smart phone.***

I've had good luck with Mick's mRFU v2.3. I use an HTC Droid Incredible running Android 2.2. I'd rate the overall experience at about a 9, the one issue I've run into is the zoom on the display. Every time I start the app it's zoomed in so I can only see about half of the remote. There is a zoom setting in the menu that I've changed, but it doesn't seem to have any effect. Not really a big deal, more annoying than anything else. Having moving light attribute control more than makes up for a minor issue like this. Hope all works at well for you.

RFU compatible phones

I tried all available web apps on my iPhone. I like the Legacy layout of mRFU and mostly use that one now. I have the feeling it is running smoother on the 3Gs than on the 3G.
Mote has the advantage of patching. So sometimes I switch.

I've had very bad experience on a Sony ericson Experia x10. mRFU is very slow. Could it be JavaScript handling?

Brian, see if there is a way to make a Home Screen shortcut for it. That solves the problem on a iPhone.

I use my iPod touch and occasionally my iPad but prefer the iPod because of it's portability. mRFU 2.3.
