(WIP) Remote - iphone webapp

Post by tom » Tue Oct 28, 2008 9:48 am

I'm creating an iphone webapp to use as a remote for on the work floor. It's quite basic at the moment but it's finally working. Nearly as i want it too aswel. I'll upload the files at some point in the next week or two if anyone cares to try it out.

At the moment it just contains a simple channel control, control over the active cuelist and links to html pages with the hanging plot and focus plot of the current show. The hanging plot itself has an imagemap which allows you to select the fixtures by touching them on the .jpg. It will need alittle html fiddling if you want to use the plots section and ofcourse you'll have to create the imagemap yourself if you want to use that.

I have a few questions though.

Is it possible to source the script.mq page and then run the commands directly? At the moment they are all linked to full urls containing the commands. Which is creating a few problems.

I've tried smething along the lines of :

Code: Select all

<script type="text" src="127.0.0.1/scripts.mq"></scripts>

<!-- to run the command-->
<script>
HC.select('command line variable')
</script>
But thats not working. Does anyone have any bright ideas? Other than that is it possible to have a look at the script.mq (if thats even a file somewhere). Or is there anymore more information about how exactly the scripts are translated to the palette.

This looks very exciting Tom.

I'll make sure the appropriate people look at it.

Funny, it crossed my mind to start looking at the iPhone SDK just today!
Looks really promising. Would be really great to have a good remote on the iPhone. Are you developping as a webapp or for the appstore?
The RFU software on a windows mobile phone and wifi network is great, but unfortunately windows mobile phones are so unattrictive... ;)

How are you connecting to the Palette with the Iphone? Are you using Telnet or the Palette's internal web server?

You may be able to embed the script on an HTML page on the Palette, which may be easier for the iphone to understand.

Telnet is a much better option if you can make the iphone do it in a self-contained way.

I'd like to help in any way I can (although right now I'm not very familiar with the iphone SDK). I'll have a look through their SDK when I get a moment and see if I have any other ideas that might help!

I'm using html and the palette webserver.

For the moment just a webapp.

I had a look at the sdk (just the dahscode part), but in the end the only thing I used were the dimensions and that beautiful background. This has been written with javascript, html and css. The idea now is to have something simple and functional in the next 2 weeks but i do have bigger plans.

Safari does some nasty little tricks with the full url commands so I'm really looking for another way to trigger the commands instead.

The RFU already works on all windows mobile devices, simply by installing it to a folder and dragging the installed program to your device.
You have to install the latest .net framework for mobile devices install for it to work.

I've found a workaround, it's falling into shape.

I have lua questions:
Is there a command for getting the current selected cuelist? The same as "GetCurrentSelctionSet", but then for the cue list rather than selected channels? Also what is the HC command for remdim?

The list of commands in the marco editor, is that a definitive list or are there more HC.commands?

This app should aslo work fine on other devices with web browsers there might just be some sizing issues but thats all fairly easilly solved.

"better than an iphone" - I dont think i've ever seen those words used in that combination before :D

At the moment there's no way of getting the selected cue list. I'll add that to the list to add for 10.5.

Is there any possibility of getting the RFU app working on Google's Android OS?
