Console only patches first 100 channels

Post by chrismck » Tue Apr 08, 2008 11:54 pm

Re post from questions thread.
Hi Guys,
We have a few systems here in NZ. With the new V10 software, you open a new show and the console defaults to 100 channels, irrespective of the channels loaded.
When you look at the system you can see the total channel allocation.
We have a work around by patching the highest channel # and then doing a one to one patch. We shouldn't have to do this!
Any comments.....
PS Consoles running in 500 series mode, haven't tried in any of the other modes.

Default Channel Display

Is it possible to have the console display the consoles max channel count opposed to 300? I have had several customer assume that they had more channels than they did because they showed up on the screen. Plus customers customers don't like the message "console not authorized."

Matt: you should use this as an opportunity to up-sell them.....

Seriously, it's hard to say what the "right" answer here is. We could certainly make the default 100 channels on a new show with no "new show template" (which one day will handle the patch, etc. for you on a new show).

The reason it is 300 is because (originally) the smallest console was 300 channels before the 100 and 200 were released.

Let's see if any of the Strand support folks have any opinion, I'm fine making it 100 channels on a new show (for now).
