Shownet and SN110 firmware

Post by RobertBell » Tue Feb 19, 2008 4:21 pm

We just got a report that f/w 2.06.11 does not work with Palette Shownet. I have a node using 2.10.08 and it works a charm. Not sure if this is an issue for anybody, but we're looking at what could be different and if we need to make a change. Likely not, but very old instalations may not want to update their nodes.
Other thoughts and experiences welcome.

2.06.11 would be a rather old build.

What type of node is it? It could be a 102, 103 or 104.

Can they upgrade it?

As far as I know, all SN110's can be brought up to the current version of firmware. There are two flavors of nodes and you need to make sure that you use the version of 2.10.08 for that node, either 12Mhz or 16Mhz. The 16Mhz is the older version of the node. (The newer 12Mhz uses a multiplier so it actually runs faster.)

I did experience a compatibility issue when using a pathport node speaking shownet to talk to an SN110. Upgrading the firmware in the SN110 solved the issue. I imagine this is the same thing.

It would be interesting to test the new consoles with the SN100/103/104 nodes. I think they will work with the last firmware release (v.2.08.01), but have not tried this. Maybe someone in Cypress (cough... RobHillig... cough) can test this.
