Network Synchronization

Post by bnortin » Thu Jun 28, 2012 11:13 pm

I ran into an issue trying to do cue list synchronization over the network tonight. The "Slave to Network Master" cue list seems to be getting a constant "Halt" command from the network master. The slave cue list is all 0 count cues, so after the cue completes the yellow bar flashes red for a brief moment every few seconds. I did change all the fade times to 3 seconds to confirm that it was actually a "Halt" command from the network master and not something on the slave console, and the cue stopped with 2 seconds remaining. I know I've used this feature before with no problems, but it was about a year and a few software versions ago. The only major difference from last year is the IP addresses: they were all in the 192.168.2.xxx range with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, now they are all in the 2.0.0.xxx range with a subnet of 255.0.0.0.

I'm using the slave cue list as a MIDI trigger for QLab, not sure if the MIDI has anything to do with it. I can try disabling the MIDI out tomorrow when I'm back in front of the console and see if that has any effect. Any ideas? Thanks.

Could try reversing the network settings. Or could try importing the remote console's cue list to the main console and triggering it from one desk. See if that makes a difference.

Unfortunately using one desk is not an option in this situation. We would like to be able to run the cue list for lighting on the FOH console, and the MIDI trigger for QLab has to come from our backstage console. I just got to the theatre so I'm going to play around with it some more, I'll let you know what I find out.

I've tried changing the IP settings back to what they were when it worked correctly, disabling MIDI out, and synchronizing different cue lists, all with no success. Here's what I'm running into:

1. When the network master cue list has cue 1 selected, but is not actually in the cue, the slave cue list immediately goes into cue 1 as soon as I click ok on cue list properties.
2. When the network master cue list fades from one cue to the other, the yellow bar seems to be acting normally. As soon as the fade is complete, it starts randomly flashing red like it is being told to "Halt".
3. I was unable swap the slave/master settings and get it to work. When I changed the slave to the network master and the master to the slave, the new slave cue list would not respond to the new master cue list.

I've attached both show files. The Main Cue List in the "FAVA" show file is the network master. The FAVA MIDI cue list in the "FAVA MIDI" show file is the slave to the network master.

Yep. I see the error. Will talk to the software team about it.
