Baffling issue during split-crossfader cue changes

Post by cpf » Sat Jun 11, 2011 10:12 am

So, I've had this issue lately (10.8.3 and .2) with cues. There will be two cues, neither of which involve a certain submaster (32). I'll be on the first cue and everything will be fine, but as I start to drag the split crossfader(s), sub 32 goes crazy outputting random values. If I stop moving the split crossfader, sub 32 stops randomly choosing values, and when I start moving it this problem starts again. Once I finish the cue change, sub 32 remains set on whatever random value it last picked, requiring a cue list release to fix. This happens randomly, never seeming to favor a certain pair of cues. There aren't any effects running anywhere in the show.

This was rather awkward the first time it happened, as sub 32 was mapped to the non-dim house fluorescents, resulting in an instant nightclub strobe effect. I've since remapped those channels, but I'm not sure if 32 is just a magic number, or if this can happen to any look or sub.

try running the Hardware Test and see if it is a hardware problem.
