v.10.6.4 Swap Pan/ Tilt

Post by Brennan » Wed Feb 24, 2010 7:22 pm

Hey all,

I've have notice that the Swap Pan/ Tilt function in the "Patch" "Fixtures" Settings column is performing oddly. The column displays correctly but the fixture behavior, in regards to Pan/ Tilt only, becomes erratic.

When the Swap Pan/ Tilt is active on a fixture the Pan/ Tilt snap to one extreme and stop responding. I have tried this on three fixture types: Mac 700 Profile Basic, PAL 1200 Mode 4, PAL 120 FX Mode 4.

Pan and Tilt on the fixtures operates normally, if backwards in respect to hanging position, if the Pan/ Tilt are not swapped. The Invert Pan and Invert Tilt functions seem to operate correctly.

It could be.

I would like to note that the Swap Pan/ Tilt worked with my fixtures before I upgraded to v.10.6.4. That leads me to believe this is a new bug. Also, the fixtures are acting like the have a bad profile patched to them (pan zips to extreme and then won't move). It seems to me that the Swap Pan/ Tilt may be swapping the wrong attributes?

I will test again from a different show file and see if I can track down the cause a little more.

Swap Pan and Tilt has deep logistical problems that need to be fixed as well.
Biggest problem is when you swap pan and tilt, the range of the attributes does not get swapped.
IE: On a mirrored fixture that has 170 degrees of pan, and 110 degrees of tilt, and you swap them.

When you roll the pan encoder, the range should be -55 to 55, this doesn't currently happen.
Even though you still have full control of the DMX range, the range in degrees is no longer accurate.
