Following channel and cue list windows

Post by sirsparky » Sat Mar 08, 2008 6:22 am

Hello all,

I have just started using a Strand system and a Light Pallet and have quite a few suggestions on it. Well I have a lot of suggestions but I will just mention this one in this post, but be sure more will come as I use the consul and the lighting system as a whole. Is it possible, or would it be possible to have the cue list scroll automatically as you proceed through cues so that you can always see the cue you are and and the surrounding cues in the stack. In the same vain, is it possible to have the channel view window to change and scroll to what ever channel you enter into your command line and any given time so that when you type in a channel number you can see what it's current state is before you enter in a level? Please let me know if this is possible with the current versopn of the software or if there are any plans to incorporate this feature into the next update. Cheers, thank you.

Following the cuelist is already possible, by toggling the S9-softkey. Autochannel display is on the wishlist I think.

This works now (or am I confused?). If you enter [200] [Enter], the grid will scroll to 200 being on the top line. Then [1] [Enter] scrolls back up.

The issue may be that 500-series (and, I think, Obsession) used to change page on '@' as well as on enter.

So:
501@

would now be showing you the level of 501. It would also highlight the channel number. LDs use this to 'find' a channel on the screen to see its level before changing it: "501@ {pause to look} 60"

(And on 500 you'd also see the channel and level on the LCD display....)

Also on 500 if you then hit Enter (501 ENTER), then it would mark it for an update.

That's no longer an issue with Palette OS.

I am glad to see this is an issue that has not just been bothering me, and it is just a very useful thing to see what you affecting both before and after you have enter in a command. But while we are talking about scrolling, is it possible if you plug in an external mouse with a scroll wheel to have that scroll wheel work as a scroll wheel in the Light Palette OS? It work in all the other Windows embedded applications. Cheers.

You can plug it in, but the scroll wheel acts as a level wheel. Particularly useful on CP series as the detents in the wheel are what you would expect on the LP series (one second, one tenth of a seconds, one gobo, one degree, one SMPTE frame etc.)

Ok, I will have to try that function, that could be quite useful, but the level wheel only becomes active when something is selected, if it could act as a scroll wheel in any window when you have yet to select anything, that would be a quite useful feature, so say for the channel window, you move the pointer to that window, scroll to the channel or group of channels you wish, then select them and level them up and down on the scroll wheel. Just a thought.

I'm not in front of a palette right now, but I know MQ used to allow you to hold shift and roll the wheel (any wheel) and it would scroll the grid as long as nothing was selected.

There is also a PAGE button on LP (SHIFT PAGE is page up)

True and fair.

But I bet LDs still want to say
'501 @ (pause to look at level) 50'
rather than
'501 enter (pause) @ 50'

Firstly, it's that 'through line of thought' thing again - they're thinking "I want to change it to a new level, but am going to pause to confirm it's the right channel and/or see the old level". Secondly, the enter version is an extra keystroke.
