Clearing up something else, our console personalities (excluding the Windows UI personality) only do two things. Set the channel colors (up,down and tracking) and change spelling/verbage between American English and British English. That's all they do.

Any other systemic changed are made in Show Options and/or Hardware Setup.

But don't we need big buttons that set all the other options - 'Set 500-GeniusPro Behaviour', 'Set 500-LP Behaviour' - for that matter, 'Set Hog II behaviour', 'Set GrandMA behaviour'.

Essentially macros that would set all of the other options (screen colours but also record behaviour, go behaviour etc) to the right thing so you'd start with a performance you knew and could then fiddle with the various settings when you got braver....?

In fact that's not all they do, we have one "Big button" as Rob calls it and that's the WindowsUI-personality where operational things do change.

So here is what I propose. We do as 500 did and make the GP button throw the big switch and configure settings to work as a GP would.

Here are the settings that we currently have that can go toward this...

1. Console personalities that change intensity color and British English (GP 500, LP 500, Palette Classic EU, Palette Classic US)
2. Release fixtures on record (On or Off)
3. Goto Cue on Record (On or Off)
4. Default Cue Record Type (Live, Delta, Block Cue List, Block Everything)
5. Default Look Record Type (Live or Delta)
6. Hold Delta Levels (On or Off)

What we need to add is a version of Record that does Block Everything but removes hard values. This we don't have currently. Once that is there, then you should be able to have that.
What I need from the forum, is what should be turned off and on as well as other settings to make this happen.
Here is what I think...

GeniusPro
Personality: GP 500
Release Fixtures on Record: Off
Goto Cue on Record: Off
Default Cue Record Type: new Block Levels (basically Block Everything but don't show the hard zeros)
Default Look Record Type: Live but Record Minus Sub should be default.
Hold Delta Levels: On

LightPalette
Personality: Palette Classic US
Release Fixtures on Record: On
Goto Cue on Record: On
Default Cue Record Type: Live
Default Look Record Type: Live but Record with Sub should be default.
Hold Delta Levels: Off

I'm still not sure about teh Hold Delta Levels but thoughts here are welcome!

That's the part where I excluded the Windows UI personality from that comment.

May I add to your list the following items from an earlier topic of Karel
gooze wrote:There should be a user mode that is real GeniusPro (the current GeniusPro is actually the old 500-series LightPalette, but that is too confusing...)
- Always block entire cuelist
- No zero values showing for blocked cues
- Get rid of the lines between cues
Of wich the first two are already in your list.

I agree with Rob. I think it would be best to set "Behaviours" or "Profiles/Personalities" which tick/untick these options to make it run in different known modes. However, you should still be able to manually change the options to best suit your requirements. Some people may like half of one "Personality", and half of another. It would be nice to have all these kind of settings in one window to change. Would that be possible?
Its a great teaching desk. I can just change settings on this desk and learn how most consoles work, from one desk. I've also been able to find the best way I work this way. In my opinion, tracking is a god send. I still understand why people replacing their old desks want it to behave the same way, and they just don't have time to learn tracking and a totally new way of programming

I agree.

AND you can have your "personality setup" buttons there as well - and actually SEE what those buttons do.
