VL-16 trackball as Mouse on shutdown

I've noticed when shutting the console down, when I've been using it without a mouse (and using the console's trackball for cursor control) the console loses control of the cursor as the control panel pops up. The only solution I've found (other than a forced, cold shutdown) is by digging up a USB mouse and shutting down that way.

Any chance of getting the control panel to keep listening to the trackball?

The issue is that the Track ball is console hardware not a Windows trackball. When the console software is shutdown the Trackball is not supported just like all the other console hardware.

You can get around this issue, by changing the settings of the power button (on the front of the console) in the Windows control panel (I think it is in the power saving settings?). I've set it to "switch off", so I never have to use an external mouse.
Note that the button does nothing as the console software is running, so there's no risk of an accidental switch off.
