RFU apps for iphone

What are the chances of making some different RFU apps for devices like iPhones or android phones? I have been using my HP pda with our Palette for some some time now and it is great. In the last year, however, almost all of my staff have purchased iPhones, even the PC users. It seems more sensible for us to have the apps on our smart phones, than carrying around (dropping) another device. I have been using some of the web apps that have been developed, which are great as a fill in, but a proper RFU app for iphones etc, with all the feed back about cue lists and channels grid.

Alternately, would it be possible to use RDP or VNC to connect to the console? I successfully connect to macs and pcs using VNC over the iphone, and RDP to PCs as well.

Yes, I have seen this, however it is a web based app, and gives no feed back.

I'm looking into a full app for the iphone. I which case we could use all the telnet stuff, which would give feedback. But i quite busy at the moment so i wont have anything soon.

Anyone else going down this path?

There is the program called Luminere i think, it uses ArtNet to connect to your console, the problem being, it is $99.99. Why can't Strand smarten up and offer a iPhone RFU that is semi free like ETC (Which donates all the profit it makes!)

Because someone needs to make it.

windows is windows. iphone is not. A lot of effort would be required to port the rfu to iphone.
Personally i'd rather see the bugs ironed out of the console first, and a few nifty features like fraken fixture, or 'add accesory to fixture' added in.

My understanding is both Eos and Ion are linux based, so is the iphone

I agree it would be fantastic. I'm currently in the market for a new pho... life managment tool?
And the iPhone is standing out at the moment. (the phone bit justfies carrying it around with me everywhere :D )
Also many of my staff have iPhones. So I'm with you on the iPhone RFU bandwagon, but I understand why it doesn't exist.

I'd have a crack at it myself, but my dev skills are average at best and my free time is short.

i also have an iphone and love it ,
but battery life :o :o :o :o !
I think RFU is better on pda for battery reason for the moment..

Try switching off 3g and put the screen a bit dimmer and you will be surpirsed!

I was having a look at it. It mustn't be too difficult. There are already some telnet applications that store macros's. Building on from this must be possible for anyonethat builds applications.

Not me unfortunately.

Most everyone is right here. It's not about ideological or philosophical differences. It's about priorities, resources and time. We feel that we need to spend more time on the console and current RFU code right now.

The EOS/ION platform runs on XP Embeded, just like the Palette. ETC has just hidden the Windows UI "better."
The iPhone runs a version of OS X, which has Unix at the core.
