Save As - More trouble then it is worth?

The "Save As" command does exactly what we expect - saves the current show in a new location, and leaves this "new" show open to play with.

For people that are going to take a copy of the show onto a show key, this is NOT the desirable way to do it, as it leaves open the possibility of the key being removed WHILE it is the location of the active show file. This never ends well - freezing the console. I have had a fair number of clients hit this problem, and I think it is worthy of a "bug" note.

I would suggest "Save As" be replaced with "Save a Copy". Does exactly the same thing as "Save As", except it leaves the original file open.

I thought there is already a save copy function right now. Is this an old request?

It is a request that has been mentioned before - but the key point for me is to REMOVE "save as"

I would like to keep save as... for saving a show under a new name for different versions.
Ballet a-VL3500
Ballet a-Mac2000
Ballet a-Amsterdam
Ballet a-Tokyo

etc.

Saving a copy saves a copy to a different location and then you can keep working in the original file on the original location.

When I am on tour I always start my day with save as... with the name of the city and the house and when my movers are other then usual or the trim height is different that goes in as well, so when I return to the same situation I can easily find it back.

I save a copy to work off my usb-key in the off-line editor (in the plane or at home)

:duplicate: FS#938 - be more tolerant of opening read only files (viewtopic.php?f=31&t=1353 also says issues with saving to non-existant drives)

Thanks Rob - that would fix the problem.
