Saving to external drive

It seems if you save a show to an external jump drive, you must remember to point back to the default D: drive after removing the external drive. Otherwise any saves just vaporize. There should be some kind of error message when this occurs to remind you that the saves are not really saving.

Maybe the old Adobe "Save A Copy" would be handy - like a "Save As", but once saved, the original file is still the primary file.

Use BACKUP instead of SaveAs. Backup keeps you working on the original.

Could this finally be the answer to my dissapearing showfiles?

I had mirror saves on to my memory stick, but I had the feeling the showfile sometimes just dissapeared (I mean the main showfile). Only checkpoint files were there! Also if you load a show from a memory stick with the show setting that it should mirror save to the stick and save to the harddrive (the drive it orriginally came from) give strange results. (more on this in the topic: save show weirdness)

I had this problem, and lost show data. Now I always save to external drive first, then to D drive.
Doesn't "Backup" create a new file each time you save? I'd rather keep updating the current show file.

If you save to an external drive for backup purposes, make sure your usb-drive just stays were it is and use it as a mirror save location.
Or after each day of work, just drag the show file from the windows explorer to your memorystick.
