Gobos differ from fixture library

Post by amoyer » Tue Mar 25, 2008 4:18 am

The Varilite VL1000 does not come with stock gobos yet when you select a gobo in the fixture it has 5 named gobos listed. Of course the ones that are listed do not match what we have installed. How would one go about changing the items in this list to reflect the gobos that we have installed?

You need to build a custom 'wheel' profile with 6 slots adding the names, then apply it to the fixture. You'll find the profile editor in patch by fixture.

I wish that after the name it would have a S1, S2, or some thing to denote what slot, frame, hole etc. That way if the gobo name is wrong you still know what slot is active.

Agrreed.

FYI - Not many people know that you can type in a slot number (or half slot number). Type [S2-Select] [4.5] [Enter] and you will get a split colour or gobo.

I found the profile editor in patch by fixture. I created a new profile that is a 6 slot wheel profile and change the names of each slot to be the name of the installed gobo. I close the profile editor, switch back to patch by output and try and place the new profile on the gobo1 attribute setting but the only profiles listed are the default ones, not the new one I just created.

Am I missing a step somewhere?

In Patch By Fixture - select your fixture number, and press S10-Profiles, then select the green m-key to select the attribute you want to add it to (g1 Select) then the green keys should show your newly made profile
