Question concerning the pallet keys

Hey guys,
I have been using the pallet keys allot more as short cuts for all sorts of things, allowing me to call up effects very quickly when programming.
I have a couple of look pages that I created and put them in the pallet section which records all attributes, using them to recall effects, both from my movers as well as other stuff.
Recently I did a dance recital in which I used the pallet to recall one of my effects, in which told my movers to move to the cyc, focus, and start a color scroll which is an attribute found in these mac 250's.
I then saved it into a cue with the other various dimmers I had. Now in rehearsal which happened to be the day before when I was programming, it worked great had no problems, however when I ran it during the show, the next day, the macs focused and did the color scroll but the position didn`t get moved to the cyc.
Whats even more strange is that I was using that very same effect although recorded into a different cue and it worked with no problems. I am finding some of the effects that I have programmed in there to be very inconsistent when it work vs when it doesen`t.
Another example is that I have a cool fire effect on my mac's overlaying 2 gobo wheels to geather, with 1 rotating, changing the focus a bit, and adding color as well as positional data which brings it to my cyc. This effect I used to program a few cues for the show, however at the end of the show, one the directors was asking about the effect, and when to load it from the pallet to show them, nothing came up not 1 attribute was loaded into the macs, even the shutter didn`t even open, where previously I recalled it a half a dozen times to program a few of the cues without any problem, and I am sure the next time I go to use it I won`t have a problem.
I just seems so inconsistent as far as when it works, and when it doesn`t.
I am not quite sure whats going, on, I don`t know if there is something, I am doing although I don`t understand why it would work 1 time and not the next, and then work again.
If anyone has had similar issues or can help me out I would really appreciate it,
Thanks,
soundguy99

Are you triggering it the same way every time? I wonder if there is a different response based upon how it is triggered.

Hey Bobby,
Yes once recorded into the pallet keys, I am selecting the fixtures and recalling the effect.
I don`t know why it would work when programing it in the cue, and the didn`t for the playback, or even I also know that I recorded the effect after the lights were on the cyc, as I was happy with the effect.
The weird part was why the effect which I recorded last year and in which I recorded for a few of my cues for this show, didn`t work after the show without the cuelist. Not even any of the attributes would load, almost as if there was nothing there.
I will say that I was running multiple cue list, as there was 3 completely different shows one after the other. But I moved the cue list for that specific show up to the top of the list so go , rel step up and step down commands all worked properly so i didn`t have to use the shit key, and released all of the cues in the other shows.
I didn`t get a chance today try the mover effect but I will have a chance to try it tomorrow.
I am racking my brain right now, trying to see if I am doing anything different that would cause it, and Honestly I think of any.
I will keep you posted, was hoping some one here could give me a few things to watch a closer. It makes it hard when its so inconsistent,
Thanks,
soundguy

You talk about moving cue lists around and wonder if that is affecting it. Any other clues as to instructions that would be getting in the way may help.

hi Bobby,
I did think of that, however that doesn`t explain, why I couldn`t load my fire effect at the end of the night right from the pallet keys after all of my cues from all the cue lists were released.
There was just nothing there.
It also doesn`t explain why I could load my color scroll effect for my macs on our cyc multiple times to program various cues with in the 3 cuelists with no problem. If there was a problem with the way it was programed into the pallet keys I would expect to see it when I was programing the cues not during the playback of them.
I could try re-recording again into another pallet key and see if it happens there as well.
thanks,
