windows media player in rack palette XP box

Post by jltsale » Thu Sep 26, 2013 1:41 pm

I am thinking of using the windows media player in the XP palette box to playback an MP3 file along wiht internally generated SMPTE. 2 questions.
1. Is there an audio output jack on the xp box?
2. Can I accurately start an MP3 file within a 30th of a second so the SMPTE is synced? IS ther another way to sync the SMPTE and the MP3?
Thanks

1. There should be multiple audio jacks out the back. I think they are In/Out/Mic or Headset.
2. You can set Hour:Min:Second.Frame. Frame is 0 - 29.

I used the Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Amigo II USB Sound Card & Headset Adapter. It worked immediately in the XP pro environment and the quality was better than the CD I had been using. We burned it up by plugging in to a powered mic input (by mistake) and I then tried a MAC product. This apple device picked up an awful hum. I went back to the turtle beach device (time was an issue) and we were good again. The show ran on SMPTE so I used the internal SMPTE generator and started it at a specific time so the cuing would line up with the music. Robust digital audio for $24. Wow.
