I'd like to make a macro that would remember some subset of positions/attributes of moving lights and store them into a Look so I can recall them. It is mainly just for positioning in advance of cues. While the console does a great job of moving them one cue early, on quick cues I may need them in position two or three cues early. Any ideas?

Macros wont help in this case as not all attributes can be read or written with them.
Mark is the easiest way.
Lets say you want to preset fixtures 1 thru 10 in cue 54 ready for cue 57
Go to cue 57
1 thru 10 [M2-Mark] 54 [enter]
This adds a part z to cue 54 - which sets up your fixtures
You can also reference fixtures from another cue
1 thru 10 @ [cue] 57 (then set your intensity back to 0) -- With 'Apply as Palette' checked the fixtures will match themselves to whatever they are in cue 57 even if you change them later
[update] [cue] 54 -- Cue only users should track with [s11-track] or update cues 54 thru 56
