Effects from looks

Post by pracc » Thu Feb 24, 2011 5:13 am

Hi all.

I am determined to find a way to do this.

I would like to create a sub page and fill it full of looks. Each look a different effect for my fixtures, be it intensity, colour or other. And then be able to start (bump) the desired pre-recorded effect (look) from a fader, bump button, M key, century array or other. Up to this point, all is possible, and is great when busking. HOWEVER, I want to start the effect from what ever means then record with other channels or looks to a cue. Currently it takes a 'snapshot' of the chase at time of recording a cue.

I have found if the effect is selected, and a parameter such as rate is changed (which delta's the effect), it will record to a cue as I wish it to. I wouldn't mind making a variable to trigger this to happen (by far not the best option), but there is no lua script for effects is there?

We have a fixed "standard" rig and it frustrated me that I have to re-create or macro to the same effects OVER AND OVER when recording cues daily. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I hear exactly what you are saying. To summarize, running FX do not record when doing a REC LIVE. Any FX that has a DELTA, will record (with either REC LIVE or REC DELTA). It would be nice to be able to record and suck in running effects.

still no way to do this?

can anyone suggest an alternative?

having to re-create the same effects hundreds of times daily to record is ridiculous.

There never has been a reason to re-create over and over.

"Load" the look that has it into the programmer,
then Record "Delta" to a new look,
includingany changes you want to make to the rate, etc. of the effect.

Loading makes things Delta, so whatever changies you make to that effect,
will make it to the new item.
