N21 "No MUX Hold Time"

Post by bnortin » Sat Apr 04, 2009 10:32 am

I have an N21 that I would like to configure to turn off some running lights an hour after I shut down the console. I tried setting the "No MUX Hold Time" to 1 hour, but an hour after I shut the console down the lights were still on, even though the node said that the network is inactive. I was thinking that it might have something to do with the node being plugged into a switch rather than going straight to the console. Any ideas??? Thanks!

Maybe it's your dimmers holding the levels forever.

It's an older portable CD80 12 x 2.4kw pack, I probably should have put that in the first message.

I would first look at the rack hold time but don't know what configuration options you have with that rack.

Ask StageLight.

On the front of the pack there are six dip-switches.

Position 5 should be in the UP position. This will cause the pack to allow dimmers to turn off when DMX is removed. If the switch is in the down position, the pack will maintain levels for 30 minutes.

Thanks, I'll take a look and see if that fixes my problem.

Checked the CD80 pack, dipswitch 5 is in the correct position to go out when the pack loses data. Any other ideas on what it might be?

Does the pack operate as it should? ie, do the lights go out when you unplug the DMX from the rack?
Also, is it safe to assume that you were setting the N21 that outputs the DMX to the dimmer rack for the 1 hour hold (and not an input node)?

The pack works fine, the other day when the node didn't turn it off after 1 hour I just pulled the DMX cable and everything went out. When I tried this it was the only node on the network.
