Re: Confirmations

But don't we need big buttons that set all the other options - 'Set 500-GeniusPro Behaviour', 'Set 500-LP Behaviour' - for that matter, 'Set Hog II behaviour', 'Set GrandMA behaviour'. Essentially macros that would set all of the other options (screen colours but also record behaviour, go behaviour ...

Re: Following channel and cue list windows

The issue may be that 500-series (and, I think, Obsession) used to change page on '@' as well as on enter. So: 501@ would now be showing you the level of 501. It would also highlight the channel number. LDs use this to 'find' a channel on the screen to see its level before changing it: "501@ {pause ...

Re: patch by output command line

If intensity is in the Abstract Control Model, why doesn't it say '1@10,000lumens'....?

Sort of semi- ;-)

Also, since the above explanation makes complete sense, why not call the thing on the dongles 'handles'?

Re: Missing syntax, Hold delta not working

What it sounds like you actually need/want is proper, good, old-fashioned 'tracking off' mode from the 500-series. Since I know 90+% of consoles in the UK are used in this mode 90+% of the time, I do agree with you and have made the same point before. There was a lot of discussion about this subject...

Re: Rec.Select

Surely the 'governing factor' is whether the cue exists or not? In 500-speak, this is the difference between recording a new cue from live (giving you the absolute state) or creating the new cue in blind (in tracking mode) then using update to merge the channels you wanted into the existing (trackin...

Re: Auto Display Control

John, Yes, I think so, except that it would need some thought to decide what got grouped with what under each category. For example, I think the LD might just want to see 'dots gobo' rather than 'dots gobo, cw rotate, 12rpm', etc - so arguably they should be grouped together. Ultimately this is one ...

Re: Auto Display Control

I fundamentally agree with everything John has said above, but to go a step further... In conversations with a number of LDs, what keeps coming up is that what the LDs want from this display is a 'summary' of what the light is doing, rather than the nitty gritty precise detail of the setting of ever...

Re: captured fixtures

Perhaps what you actually want is 500-series 'reload' (shift-load). This re-loads the pending cue as the pending cue, but because it re-loads it, it will then play back the 'state' of the cue rather than just the blocked changes. This effectively means that when you press 'go' all of the lights will...

Re: Profiles in patch

Of course, I'll be difficult and say that I want to apply profiles to outputs and have them stay even when nothing's patched to that output: - in a theatre, where I know all of the dimmers are of a particular type that I need to profile, but don't yet know which will be patched to channels - on a to...

Re: Magic Update anyone?

Hmmmm.... I thought we'd discussed this (at length!)

When will command line magic update be back?
