For of us this would be a deal breaker. There aren't that many of these around and if we couldn't get a replacement should the board fall over we can't print out the show and enter it manually into a different make of board.

Couldn't you record the state recorded in the submaster as a lighting cue and fade that in - drop the submaster - change page - fade up new submaster and play the next cue which would be recorded as a blackout to return to subs on a HTP basis?

Sure. That's called Delay. With PaletteOS, think of time as Delay / Fade. So in the Cue Time column, you could say 3 / 5. That would be a 3 count delay and a 5 count fade. With the GSX I have the option to add a wait time to a cue so the next cue will automatically start after a certain amount of time. Is this available with the ML250? I would have preferred to give you a more direct access path to modify intensities but I was told that was not possible so this was the next best thing. I wish it were better.
